Revelation 7:9–17
By Dr. John Hill, Editor & CEO
In Revelation 7, the Apostle John is given a breathtaking vision — a vision of hope, comfort, and ultimate victory. He sees a great multitude, too large to count, gathered before the throne of God and the Lamb. They are from every nation, tribe, people, and language, all robed in white, all lifting their voices in worship: "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!"

What a beautiful and encouraging glimpse of the future! This multitude is not marked by earthly divisions, but by the unity of salvation. They have come through "great tribulation," through suffering, hardship, and trials — yet here they are, victorious, standing before God in glory.
This vision reminds us that the struggles we endure now are not the end of our story. We may experience sorrow, persecution, and loss in this life, but the Lamb — Jesus Christ — has already won the final victory. One day, all who trust in Him will stand before His throne, healed, whole, and rejoicing.

Notice how the passage describes the multitude: they are clothed in white robes and holding palm branches. The white robes symbolize the righteousness of Christ, given freely to all who believe. Their purity is not because they lived perfect lives, but because they have "washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." It is His sacrifice that cleanses us. It is His mercy that makes us worthy to stand in God’s presence.
The palm branches are a sign of triumph and peace. In ancient times, victors were welcomed with palm branches. Here, the victorious ones are those who clung to Christ through every hardship, every heartache, every temptation — and who now rejoice in the fullness of His salvation.
John also hears a wonderful promise spoken over them: "They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them."
Imagine that — the Lamb is our Shepherd! The One who laid down His life for the sheep now leads them to springs of living water. He wipes away every tear from their eyes. Every pain of this world — every disappointment, every grief, every injustice — will be comforted by His tender hand.
This passage invites us to lift our eyes from the struggles of today and fix them on the promises of eternity. It encourages us to persevere in faith, knowing that our labor in the Lord is not in vain. It reminds us that we are part of a global, eternal family, a multitude that no one can number, singing songs of salvation and peace.

Perhaps today you feel weary from your own tribulations. Perhaps you wonder if the journey is worth it, or if the burdens are too heavy to bear. Let Revelation 7 encourage your heart: The Lamb is on the throne. He sees you. He knows your suffering. He has prepared a place for you. And one day, you will stand among that great multitude, clothed in white, singing with joy before His throne.
Until that day, keep walking by faith. Keep trusting the Shepherd who walks with you even now. Know that every tear you shed is seen and will one day be wiped away by His own hand. Blessed be the Lamb who was slain, and who now reigns forever! Salvation belongs to Him — and by His grace, so do we.
