Open House & Ribbon Cutting

The NC Support Our Troops held its Open House and Ribbon Cutting on Tuesday, September 19th. The event was organized by Director Barbara Whitehead, who has led the organization for the past 19 years. Whitehead gave a brief history of the original nonprofit and the events that have led to this new partnership with Support Our Troops and rehoming the organization in a portion of the building of Cross & Crown (Free Will Baptist Press) located at 3928 Lee Street in Ayden, NC.

The event was well attended by the local community and multiple groups. Some of those in attendance include officials of the Town of Ayden, the office of Congressman Greg Murphy MD, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary, American Legion and Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution, North Carolina National Guard Family Programs and Survivors Outreach, Veterans Affairs Office in Greenville, representatives of the USO, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Jack and Jill Youth, and countless dedicated volunteers and donors. The refreshments were provided by members of Reedy Branch OFWB Church in Winterville, NC.

Director Barbara Whitehead is very excited about the new location for NC Support Our Troops and the opportunity to continue supporting our military deployed across the globe. “We are blessed with this partnership as we continue the mission of support to our military. This location allows us to work in a spacious, clean, and organized center. Volunteers are welcome to contact us for information on how to volunteer and to make donations,” Whitehead said. Chief Operating Officer for Cross & Crown, Darren Davenport, is equally excited about the possibilities. “We consider our partnership with Support Our Troops both an honor and a privilege. We believe this is a great fit with our mission and a valuable asset to our local community and our great service men and women all over the world.”
