Celebrate the Season with Christmas by Spotlight at UMO
The University of Mount Olive invites the community to celebrate the Christmas season at its annual Christmas by Spotlight production on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5. The one-hour program will feature traditional Christmas music and holiday favorites performed by students in UMO’s Music Department.

This year’s show will bring together the University’s Jazz/Combo Byrd House Band, Concert Choir, The Worship Collective, Musical Theater, and Carolina Sound for a variety of live instrumental and vocal selections. Guest performers will include the North Johnston High School Honors Choir, Rosewood High School Eagle Ensemble, Smithfield-Selma High School Honors Choir, and Corinth Holders High School Honors Choir.

“I'm always amazed at the amount of talent the UMO music department has each year. You will not want to miss this show. It is a wonderful way to start the season with beautiful Christmas music intertwined with meaningful narration to remind us of the true meaning and reason for celebrating Christmas,” said UMO Assistant Professor of Music Holly Rector.
Both performances begin at 7 p.m. in Hazel Waters Kornegay Assembly Hall, located at 207 Wooten Street in Mount Olive. General admission tickets are $15 and are available at umo.edu/cbs.

“Please purchase your tickets online soon, as there is limited seating and we expect this show to sell out,” Rector said.
Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will support Music Department performances and student development. The department is currently seeking additional stage lighting and technology equipment for its new recording studio, and contributions will help strengthen learning and performance opportunities for UMO students.
