Woman’s Retreat
The Lady’s Auxiliary of St. Mary’s OFWB Church held its annual women’s retreat on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
The speaker was Jane Wolfe. Jane is the founder of Dew4Him Ministries, which began in 2005. This ministry is committed to seeing women heal and grow. She is a leader in her community and has been teaching hundreds of women God’s word for over 25 years. Her heart is drawn to empower women to know God, be strong, and act in accordance with the Bible.
She has taught Bible studies in the community for ten years and in state prisons for 15 years. In her prison ministry, Jane saw a need for restorative justice and believed God could redeem and restore lives. She is trained in the Genesis process, a relapse curriculum that teaches women how to walk in the newness of life.
Jamil Mills provided special music. She represents the Mills family, formed with her husband, the Rev. Mike Mills. When she and Mike married at 21, their ministry was formed, and they have been working full-time for over 35 years. Along with her passion for singing, she is an anointed minister, holding credentials in the Church of God. She has gained significant recognition for both her speaking and singing engagements. Her prayer is that the spirit of the Lord will be upon her and anoint her to administer the gospel to the brokenhearted, deliverance to the captives, and healing the sick.
There were approximately 100 women in attendance who not only represented St. Mary’s but 28 other local churches. These women were provided a delicious breakfast along with Christian fellowship.
Also, on Friday, March 10, 2024, our lady’s auxiliary hosted our annual Mother’s dinner in honor of Mother’s Day. Jana Winters (St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Goldsboro, North Carolina) was the speaker. She also provided special music. Jana is a teacher with Wilson County schools serving Vick and Lucama Elementary Schools.
This event is held yearly to honor and celebrate the godly mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and mother-like women in our lives. Parkside Café, Pine Level, North Carolina, provided a buffet meal enjoyed by all.
Our auxiliary feels honored to host these events to celebrate women and, most importantly, to grow more in the Lord. We look forward to hosting these events again in 2025.
Graduation Ceremony
St. Mary’s OFWB Church held a graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 2, 2024, in honor of Bethany Ratley-Mead. Bethany is the daughter of Everett and Kayla Mead of Kenly, North Carolina.
Bethany graduated from North Johnston High School on June 7, 2024. She plans to attend Johnston Community College in the fall with plans to transfer to a four-year college to pursue a teaching career.
Dale Pope, of our scholarship committee, awarded an $800 educational scholarship from our church to Bethany. In addition, Kathy Anthony, Auxiliary President, gave her a gift certificate. Nolan Parish was recognized as a 2024 graduate from North Carolina State University. He graduated magna cum laude with an electrical engineering degree. Nolan is the son of Lori and Dennis Parish of Lucama, NC.
We are proud of these graduates and know they will be successful as they begin their new life journeys.
