The 27th Annual University of Mount Olive Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament will tee off on Friday, November 21, at Southern Wayne Country Club. The event is part of the University’s Homecoming and Pickle Classic Weekend, proudly presented by Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company.
Registration and lunch for the four-man Captain’s Choice tournament will begin at 11 AM, with a shotgun start at noon. The cost is $75 per individual or $300 per team. Registration includes entry into the long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests, one mulligan per player, a goody bag, lunch, and refreshments.

The tournament will be divided into two flights, with the top half competing in the championship flight. First and second-place recognition will be awarded in each flight.
“Golf has a way of bringing people together, and this tournament is one of our favorite traditions,” said tournament coordinator and UMO alumnus Dwayne McKay ’16. “It’s more than just a day on the course; it is a chance to reconnect with friends, celebrate UMO pride, and raise support for our students.”
McKay noted that the energy of the day is what keeps players coming back year after year. “Whether you’re a serious competitor or just out to enjoy good company, there’s something for everyone. It’s always a great time, and the impact goes far beyond the 18th hole.”
Players are encouraged to register by November 12 at www.umo.edu/homecoming. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information, contact McKay at (919) 658-7757 or dmckay@umo.edu.
“With the golf tournament, Fall Festival, and Pickle Classic basketball games, Homecoming Weekend is shaping up to be a celebration you don’t want to miss,” McKay added.
